Marou Chocolate: from experts to leaders

Marou's managers were brilliant makers who had never been formally trained to lead. Two four-day workshops gave them the frameworks, the confidence, and a shared language for leadership.

The challenge

Great makers, first-time leaders

Marou's managers were high performers getting great results. But none of them had ever received formal training on how to lead people, and the company was growing past what intuition alone could carry.

The goal was two-fold: validate that their intuitive leadership was on the right track, and give them concrete frameworks to shift from expert individual contributors to leaders of people.

So we started where we always do. We listened to how Marou actually works, then built the program around it.

What we did

Four days, built layer by layer

Two intensive four-day workshops that stacked the essentials: leading, communicating, delegating, coaching.

From expert to leader

Day by day, the program moved from essential leadership skills and the Trust Matrix, through communication styles with the DISC Grid, to delegation that empowers instead of helps, and finished on solution-focused coaching.

Learning by doing

Puzzles, a chocolate chip cookie taste test, and LEGO Serious Play. Hands-on methods that got honest dialogue flowing and made the concepts impossible to forget.

Built to stick

Accountability buddies and recap sessions carried the skills back into daily operations, so the learning kept working long after the room emptied.

The result

Validated, equipped, and still practicing

Managers left confident that their instincts were right, with a shared language and toolkit for leadership. Skills building is now a strategic effort at Marou, woven into their standard one-to-one leadership routines.
