RMIT University, Careers & Industry Relations
Higher education. The team that connects RMIT with alumni, industry partners and events. Six-month program, October 2024 to March 2025.

Capable people, demanding stakeholders
A motivated, high-performing team that still found it hard to negotiate with demanding faculty, push back when needed, and protect priorities in a fast-paced academic environment.
Managers wanted more than a workshop high. They asked for a structured intervention that would build lasting confidence and stakeholder skills, with proof that the changes actually stuck.
So we started where we always do. A Training Needs Analysis for staff and managers separately, before a single workshop was booked.
Staff and managers, moving together
Six months from analysis to measured proof, with both layers of the team pulling in the same direction.
Measured change, visible change
Behavioral scores improved across all seven measured areas, from communication and negotiation to conflict resolution. Peers and managers reported visibly clearer communication and more proactive conflict handling, and managers adopted regular one-to-ones, feedback loops and structured follow-ups.
“Before this program, I didn’t run one-to-ones with my team. When I started using the structure shared in training, I quickly saw more openness, trust, and performance improvements. The LEGO Serious Play session also helped me uncover hidden challenges I hadn’t seen before. Today, I feel more in control and more supportive as a leader, and my team is visibly improving.”
